Planimetric method of measurement and tension test shall be conducted in full tubular size, longitudinal strip, or round specimens in the direction of fabrication to determine the grain size and mechanical properties, respectively. These materials shall conform to the specified grain size, yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation requirements. Each pipe or tube shall be subjected to hydrostatic or nondestructive eddy-current tests to determine the allowable fiber stress and to detect significant discontinuities such as drilled hole and transverse tangential notch. The cold-drawn material shall be commercially straight, uniform in quality and temper, smooth, and free of bends, kinks, and other injurious imperfections.

Tube shall be made from flat-rolled alloy by an automatic welding process with no addition or filler metal, shall be cold-worked subsequent to welding and prior to final annealing, and shall be furnished with oxide removed. When bright annealing is used, descaling is not necessary. The material shall conform to the chemical composition limits prescribed for nickel, chromium, iron, manganese, carbon, copper, silicon, sulfur, aluminum, titanium, columbium, molybdenum, phosphorus, tungsten, cobalt, nitrogen, and boron, as determined by chemical analysis, and to the specified mechanical properties including tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. Annealed alloys shall conform to the the prescribed grain size. The following tests shall be performed: (1) flattening test, (2) flange test, (3) Class 1 nondestructive test by one of the following: hydrostatic, pneumatic (air underwater), eddy current, or ultrasonic test, and (4) Class 2 nondestructive test by leak and electric (eddy current, or ultrasonic test) test.

ASME SB751 / ASTM B751 - 08 Standard Specification for General Requirements for Nickel and Nickel Alloy Welded Tube

This general specification contains the mandatory requirements to the ASTM standards listed herein for longitudinally welded tubular products made from nickel and nickel alloys. In case of conflict, the requirements listed in the particular product specification takes precedence over those listed here.

ASME SB366 / ASTM B366 - 10a Standard Specification for Factory-Made Wrought Nickel and Nickel Alloy Fittings

This specification covers wrought welding fittings, including threaded fittings, for pressure piping, factory-made from nickel and nickel alloys. The term welding applies to butt-welding or socket-welding parts such as elbows, bends, caps, tees, reducers, lap-joint, and stub ends. This specification does not apply to cast welding fittings. Grades of nickel and nickel alloys included in this specification are designated with a prefix, WP or CR, based on dimensional and rating standards. WP grades have class designations (Class S, Class W, Class WX, and Class WU) to indicate whether seamless or welded construction is utilized and to indicate the nondestructive test method and extent of nondestructive examination (such as radiography and/or ultrasonic test). The material for wrought welding fittings may consist of forgings, rods, bars, plates, sheets, and seamless or welded pipe that conform to all the specified requirements. Forging or shaping operations may be performed by hammering, pressing, piercing, extruding, upsetting, rolling, bending, or fusion welding, or by a combination of two or more of these operations. Chemical and product analyses shall conform to the chemical composition prescribed. Requirements for tensile properties, heat treatment, tension test, and dimensions are detailed. Hydrostatic testing of wrought fittings is not required by this specification.
